Hi AllI am assisting a client with configuring an IBM DS3300 SAN which they purchased second-hand on the internet. We are unable to connect to the unit using IBM System Storage DS Storage Manager 10 to configure the device. When the software tries to do an automatic discovery of the device it does not find it. This is most likely because a previous config exists and the IP address of the management port is set to something outside our subnet. Please see system manual here:I have scoured the web but have not been able to determine how to reset this damn thing! Any assistance would be highly appreciated!CheersSystemnet.

In the IBM redbook:in redbook:'Note: If you forget your password, contact IBM Technical Support. Password reset ispossible with direct DS3000 Storage Subsystem HW unit attachment only.' IBM System Storage DS3000: Introduction and Implementation GuideBTW, there is additional info:'For security reasons, you can attempt to enter a password ten times before the DS3000storage subsystem enters a 001clockout001d state. Before you can try to enter a password again, you must wait ten minutes for the 001clockout001d state to be reset.' If you don't know the IP, I doubt you know the password.
You will need to contact IBM. Holy resurrection, Batman!I'm only replying to this thread because I've come across this question in trying to find a solution for my issue. I have a trick in which you can use to find the IP address of your storage subsystem!Using Wireshark, start capturing traffic going to and from the storage subsystem, and then power it on. If it uses DHCP, you will naturally see DHCP requests, and then you can figure out what IP address it has. If it has a fixed IP address, then it will do an ARP request for that IP address prior to starting to use the IP address. Filter packets on the MAC address of the Storage Subsystem (MAC address is printed on controller), and then you will see an ARP request. The 'Target IP Address' is the IP address of the storage subsystem.

Pirates of the caribbean 5 soundtrack download. Configure your PC to have an IP address on the same subnet, and DS Storage Manager will discover the device.Of course, this doesn't help if you don't know the password to it, but it's possible the password does not exist on the device, as 2nd hand storage subsystems should have had their configuration wiped. You may have to do some monitoring or port mirroring (port spanning) to be able to capture the network traffic - get your network team to help you with this. Alternatively, just connect the storage subsystem and your wireshark machine to the same hub or network segment.

I am in search of a copy IBM DS Storage Manager. I am hoping someone here at SpiceWorks has a copy setting around, or entitlement to the download from IBM's website. I have inherited a server and storage that was from a vendor support hardware refresh. The servers all got wiped and I would like to re-purpose this equipment. They don't have the software I need, they were utilizing it in a linux environment, of course I am going to use it in a windows environment.
Megaraid and other IBM software selections do not work. The only verified software, as best I can through internet searches, is the DS Storage Manager.Lets go spiceheads! Try thisFrom hereChange all four SAS connectivity module user passwords.Note: This step is not required, but it is recommended. The default password for all four SAS connectivity module user IDs (USERID, USERID1, USERID2, and USERID3) is PASSW0RD,spelled in all capital letter and with a zero (0) instead of the letterO. For security reasons, it is recommended that you change these tofour new and unique passwords. You can change a SAS connectivity moduleuser password from the User Management page.
